The aim of the group is to support woman in getting on the road to fitness and most importantly to raise their confidence and self-esteem. The group consists of all abilities in the running world and you do not have to be a 'good runner' to join. We are a friendly group and this is highlighted by our social gatherings and the atmosphere on club nights. Formby Stormers women's running group was set up in January 2011 and now has over 60 ladies on the register. The group was set up as result of the success of the Crosby group. The Crosby group grew overnight, and we thought how lovely it would be to have another group in Formby, especially with access to the pine woods and the beautiful coast line - it was a chance not to be missed. The group started with about 5 ladies and over the past few years has become a huge success. 65 Friends of Real Lancashire Greencroft PR1 9LB
The Friends of Real Lancashire are concerned to promote the true identity of our county which has been extremely confused in the minds of some people especially those working in the broadcasting and newspaper industries since the local government reorganisation of 1974. The Government at that time stated that the new counties were administrative areas only and that the boundaries of traditional counties such as Lancashire had not been changed. Unfortunately the media refer to these administrative areas all too frequently and ignore the fact that places such as Barrow-in-Furness, Liverpool, Manchester, and Warrington are still in Lancashire.
